I decided to look at Lew Parker's evaluation, as it achieved a high level four.
Q1)
Lew created a vlog to answer his first question. It's a good way of presenting a evaluation answer, but it was rather long. It might of been better for a vlog to be used for a different question that wasn't so full of detail (then again Lew answered all of the questions in a lot of detail).
He started off introducing the question to help start off the vlog. He shows images on the screen (usually the top right corner) to visually show what he was explaining and also screen casts. This also helps keep the vlog interesting as he talks for a very long time and speaks extremely fast.
He includes a lot of technical terminology to answer the question, making it sound professional. For instance he mentions about how he used synergy to help market the band and music video. He also talks about theorists and the male gaze, and how he conventionally or unconventionally uses them in his product.
Lew talks about the research he had to do to gain the information for his product ideas. For instances he talks about how he looked at a lot of Indie music videos, as that was his genre. Also from his research, Lew says that he was influenced by certain bands for the designs of his ancillary tasks, such as Coldplay and Oasis.
He talks about Goodwin and how his music product only fits in with 6/7 of the theories. He talks about how it also fits in with a more modern style of music video and modern 'lad' stereotypes.
In the vlog, you are able to see him reading a script as his eyes move side to side. However he would sometimes speak from memory or not follow the script. Having a script is useful, and its difficult to speak without following something. But to improve from this it would of been better to only have notes of what you're going to say (however, I'll probably end up following a script). Following a script means you can be very detailed in your answer and sound professional, so maybe a vlog would be better for a more easier question, for instance question 3: it doesn't require lots of terminology, just explaining what feedback you was given and how you used it.
The vlog its self is very well presented, with a bright setting (yellow wall) and Lew in the centre. There was also no cuts in the vlog (not what I could see anyway).
Q2)
For the second question, Lew created a presentation to help separate the points he wanted to make. The only issue with this presentation is again that he had a lot to say. However this meant that he covered pretty much everything.
He introduces the question at the beginning, and then goes on to brands. He explains how brands have influenced him and why they are important. This shows that he went into extra research when he was planning his music product.
He then talks about the importance of the order of production: Big idea, Vision, Values, Personality. I was rather interested in these and now I'm thinking of doing some more research on them.
He considers marketing and how his product should be sold. He talks about how Viva Brother doesn't sell well with push marketing and would advertise better with social sites: pull marketing.
On one slide, Lew starts to talk about his research into styles and how he came across 'House style', which helped influence his designs for the overall product. This also helped him with his plan of synergy for the product and how they would all link with each other.
There is a slide (or slides) in presentation dedicated to each of the ancillary tasks. This is a good way to separate them from each other and keep them in a clear and ordered form. On these slides, he would explain how he come to design them and how they link with each other: colour, font, imagery.
Q3)
Question three was presented on Glogster. I'm not a fan of Glogster, but I know people would disagree with me. I don't like it because of how much it slows down my computer when using it and also how messy it is, making it difficult to read; you would have to scroll down on some of the post-it notes that sometimes you don't even realise.
For answering the question, he mentions the research questionnaire he did to see what type of music and videos his target audience likes. This way he was able to adjust his original ideas to fit around the feedback.
For showing a sample of his questionnaire, he decided to incorporate a screen cast of the questionnaire results presentation. It is a good way of showing the results and feedback, but the screen cast could of been edited to get rid of the beginning and ending bits of Lew sorting out the screen cast.
He also had a reaction video of someone watching his music video. Even though this was a good idea, it was a bit long and boring as the viewer was silent whilst watching the music video, and we wasn't even able to listen to the song. However when she was done watching it, she gave her feedback, explaining what she liked about it.
To get more feedback, he had his music video on social websites such as Twitter and Facebook. From doing this he got quite a few responses. Even though this is a good way of getting feedback, it depends what people are following you and what friends you have (I don't think I would get that much).
He also explains how he would see flaws himself and would change them to give his music video a better finish: he would change the position of some of the shots.
He also had feedback on his storyboard, which helped him change ideas before filming is done.
Q4)
For answering question 4, Lew made a podcast, again introducing the question. An issue I picked up with his podcast is that the screen was left blank half the time. He did use images to illustrate what he was saying but there were a lot of long gaps making it a bit boring.
In the podcast he lists all the technology he used in producing his product, starting of with blogger and how he used it as a diary. He also included things such as his laptop and phone and how they were useful.
He also talks about how he moved from using iMovie for the preliminary to Final Cut Pro for his actual music video, and how they are very different. Along with this he also mentions how he learnt new skills, such as using the green screen.
